QEH&S Systems Management
- Manage integrated Environmental, Health and Safety Management System to maintain ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 14001:2015 certifications. Support the Quality Representative for Auburn Hills collaborate with the Quality Manager to maintain Umicore’s satellite IATF 16949:2016 certification.
- Expand the internal audit program to include new corporate requirements, including auditor training and annual audit schedule ensuring it meets the certification standards for ISO 45001 & 14001.
- Maintain Lead Auditor status for ISO 45001 & ISO 14001
- Coordination of External Certification Audits through DQS for ISO14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and IATF16949:2016.
- Member of the North American internal auditor team for ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3.
Legal & Regulatory Requirements
- Primary contact for all State, Federal and local regulatory bodies for EH&S.
- Maintain existing regulatory permits for operation and specify future requirements
- Annual MI Enviro Air Emissions Reporting for the State of Michigan inclusive of our PTI 300-07C for Test Cell 204 & Gasoline Above Ground Storage and facility emissions.
- Sara Title III, EPCRA, Hazardous Chemical Inventory and Emergency Planning reporting and requirements.
- Bi-annual evaluation of the Combined Spill Plan which includes “Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan” (SPCC) as required by 40 CFR part 112 and the “Pollution Incident Prevention Plan” (PIPP) required by Michigan Part 5 Rules (R324.2006) to maintain operation of the Auburn Hills Technical Center.
- Reporting to the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA).
- Maintain Slug Control Plan per GWLA requirements.
- Maintain the Auburn Hills Technical Center “Very Small Quantity Generator Status” classification with Michigan EGLE through the proper determination of hazardous/non-hazardous waste classification, manifest document control and waste quantities.
- Ensure that all projects meet state building codes, International fire codes and EH&S regulations.
- Manage Department of Transportation & International Air Transport Association compliance for Dangerous Goods Shipping.
- Collaborate with facility management to ensure alarm systems are tested per legal requirements and are managed accordingly
- Industrial Hygiene monitoring to meet MIOSHA and Umicore Group Standards.
- Manage Job Safety Analysis & Risk Assessment process, ensuring all processes are evaluated, maintained and controlled and updated as changes are made.
- Manage employee training program for all compliance required training related to 29 CFR 1910 for General Industry and Umicore Published Safety Standards.
- Develop and deploy all process related EH&S Training per regulatory & company requirements
- Ensure all trainings are completed by working closely with area supervisors and managers that are Technical Center responsible.
- Ensure all Life Safety equipment, alarms, detection and response systems are maintained.
- Manage and maintain the QDMS document system.
- Develop a paperless system using JotForm to ensure ease of use for related EH&S required forms.
- EH&S Team Chairperson
Incident Management
- Lead the EH&S Team in incident/accident investigation demonstrating the ARMS model for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to ensure compliance with the Umicore Group Incident Management Standard and legal requirements per MIOSHA Requirements.
- Ensure Safety Learning Reports for from incidents are generated and shared with Group EH&S and the Catalysis Safety Coordination Team.
- Ensure findings from the Near Miss Incentive Program are transparent and corrective actions are reported in monthly safety meetings.
- Intelex Site Administrator
Culture
- Develop, lead and manage the EH&S Team to be result oriented, self-motivated and to embody the Catalysis Safety Principles.
- Lead team of Safe Start Trainers to ensure the Safe Start program remains active and to ensure there is a common language used for behavioural safety.
- Manage the Safety Recognition Program
EH&S KPI Reporting
- Responsible to report Environmental Health & Safety KPI’s monthly, quarterly, and annually to Umicore Corporate EH&S. Including Occupational hygiene indicators and noise exposure.
- Site Coordinator for Umicore’s Environmental Reporting Management & Intelex incident management system
Process Safety Management
- Lead and manage PRA Teams and Process Risk Assessments (PRA) to identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring compliance with Umicore Process Safety Standards.
- Guide and direct engineers on PROHARA system requirements for process safety in new and existing installations, ensuring implementation and maintenance of Umicore’s Group Change Management requirements.
Site Security
- Manage the site security program to ensure employee safety based on Police Dept recommendations and Safe City site designation.
- Manage outcomes from Bi-Annual Site Security Assessment from the Police Dept.
- Site Security ambassador responsible to meet Umicore security standards.
- Responsible for security systems at the Auburn Hills Technical Center & Annex
- Primary contact for Burglar alarms for Auburn Hills Technical Center & Annex
General
- Ensure Technical Center is MICR compliant; follow Internal Control directives.
- May be assigned other duties as needed, based on facility needs.
